Gel polish is a polish that cures under a lamp. Unlike ordinary polish it does not scratch through everyday use and it keeps its colour and shine until the next appointment.
How long it lasts depends more on the preparation than on the product: a clean nail plate and a properly sealed edge are what keep the colour in place.

Does it damage my natural nail?
No, when the application and above all the removal are done properly. Scraping and peeling it off at home is what does the damage, not the gel itself.
How long does it last?
Up to three weeks. After that the natural nail has grown enough for the regrowth to show.
